A survey of local conservation efforts for the Philippine native pig was conducted. Respondents having a mean of 20.05 ± 8.40 years of experience in native pig production were purposely selected for this study. Data from the Municipal Agricultural Offices in the province were also gathered. Quantitative data were analyzed statistically using PROC MEANS and PROC LOGISTIC procedures while qualitative data were used as a supporting information. Results showed that there exist local conservation efforts for the Philippine native pigs in the province. The continuous raising by farmers, the choice of native boar in breeding, the support of the local government units through their dispersal program, and the current demand for native pigs were indicators for the continuous existence of the Philippine native pig. These conservation efforts, however, were found dependent on economic forces, which also contributes in the loss of biodiversity. Hence, threat for their loss exists also vis-à-vis local conservation efforts.
